closeI get up close to my subjects, asking permission when shooting street portraits, or placing myself in the heart of the action during an event to achieve intimacy in my shots. I look for the visceral energy of a foreground subject, with a blurry or detailed background depending on the context. I try to capture the solemnity largely avoided by other photographers who shoot from the sidelines. I like to stand in the center of it all and stick my camera up the nose of life. Graduated from Pratt Inst. of Art: BA in Commercial Art: illustration, advertising and photography. I spent 25 years in Advertising topping out at Group Creative Director and retired early, because life is short and photography is fun.
