Member Profile: Fran Dickson

closeFran Dickson is a freelance photographer specializing in portrait and events for individuals and organizations. Her work has appeared in numerous publications including THE WALL STREET JOURNAL and THE BATTERY PARK CITY BROADSHEET. Her clients include American Express, Deloitte & Touche, The Dilenshneider Group, Eisman Nursery, Judith Leiber, J. McLaughlin and Palladia Inc. In addition to her professional work, she volunteers her services as an advocate for foster care children, as a member of CASA, NY (Court Appointed Special Advocate). Her images have been seen in several solo and group shows including the 28th Small Works Juried Show at the 80 Washington Square East Galleries, the Atlantic Gallery, the Office of the Borough President of Manhattan, the Cork Gallery at Lincoln Center and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. A native New Yorker and long time resident of Battery Park City, Dickson is a graduate of Queens College and earned her MBA in accounting at New York University. She also studied photography at International Center for Photography and the Fashion Institute, both in New York. Since 1998, Dickson has been a member of Professional Women Photographers, the premier non-profit organization for women photographers. She was president for six years and in 2004 & 2005 she worked as a member of the Development Committee during which time her committee presented PWP’s first Annual Student Award to deserving women high school students. In 2012 she began co-producing PhotoTalk, a cable TV show sponsored by PWP. It airs on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network and you can see past videos on PWP's Vimeo and YouTube channels.
