Event Recap: Photographing a Culture - Photography Workshop

PHOTOGRAPHING A CULTURE

October 22-23, 2016, NYC

In NYC where over 180 different languages are spoken, we don't have to spend 6 - 18 hours on an airplane to find good locations. Manhattan's Chinatown, where all the life is on the streets and in the two parks, was the destination for PWP weekend workshop produced by Barbara Nelson and taught by Terry Abrams. However, the weather gods had other ideas with cold rain and high winds on Saturday. 12th hour Decision - we will photograph two cultures. The residents and visitors in the beautiful interior design & architecture of the World Trade Finance Center with (indoor) connections to Brookfield Place and newly finished transportation centers met the criteria and great contrast to outdoor Chinatown. On Sunday, with great sunshine, we returned to plan A in Chinatown. The end result, doubled our learning experience with more variety. The event was a big success. We are proud of everyone’s flexibility with the spontaneous adjustments which produced some unique images!!
