Community is Built When We Work and Learn Together

In June 2024, the Professional Women Photographers Board of Directors resurrected the Volunteer of the Year Award by honoring Irene Wolpert for her ongoing volunteerism organizing and leading the PWP Book Club. It takes a lot of time and effort to find books, read them, and organize the meetings and talking points month after month. The Book Club has become an important part of the PWP community.

We followed up in June 2025 by naming member Jane Hoffer the Volunteer of the Year for her years of work on the Exhibition Committee planning exhibitions, handling accepted images and communications, and hanging and deinstalling exhibitions. Exhibitions take time, expert planning, and we appreciate Jane’s dedication and elbow grease over the years.

For 2025-2026, the Board couldn’t decide on just one person – so why not two? At the June 2026 Member Meeting and Mixer held at Open Jar Studios June 3, 2026, the Board honored two volunteers of the year.

Kaddy Tsang is a newer member and provided vital assistance volunteering with the Exhibition Committee hanging Past. Present. Seen. at the Salmagundi Club, then again giving her time to help install the Small Works fundraiser at BMCC in March. Thank you, Kaddy!

Linda Buongermino is a long-time member of PWP who always makes herself available to photograph PWP events. She has taken photos of meetings, exhibition installations, and openings for years. Having a visual record of what we do is so very important, and we appreciate her time and skill in providing these photos to PWP.

Professional Women Photographers is a wholly volunteer led organization – we would not exist without volunteers coming together to create and maintain our unique community.
