Professional Women Photographers Opens Small Works: A Fundraiser Exhibition on International Women’s Day

Image #9 by Margit Zsedely. A layered, collage-style photograph seen through a rain-covered window. Water droplets in sharp focus cover the glass, while blurred figures holding umbrellas walk outside. A person in a red coat with a blue umbrella appears in the lower right. Reflections of indoor elements—chairs, walls, and a large decorative object—overlay the rainy street scene, creating a dreamy, abstract composition of interior and exterior spaces merging together.

Opening Reception: Sunday, March 8, 2026  •  2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, New York City

Curated by Claudia Sohrens, Small Works brings together 92 women and non-binary photographers whose cell phone images — each printed at an intimate 6 × 6 inches — form a powerful collective tapestry of personal, social, political, and environmental storytelling. The exhibition runs March 9–21, 2026, with public hours of 11:00 AM – 6:30 PM daily.

The opening reception on March 8 is part of PWP’s ongoing 50th Anniversary celebration, which began in October 2025 — a year-long recognition of five decades of empowering women in photography.

Among the 92 participating artists are photographers whose work is held in private and institutional collections and commands significantly higher prices in the market: Meryl Meisler, Mariette Pathy Allen, Joan Roth, Jini Sachse, and Barbara Leven to name a few. Their participation makes Small Works a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire works by established artists at $50 — with every dollar going directly to the documentary.

“Small Works encourages slow, attentive looking as an act of care and resistance in a time defined by speed and scarcity. The exhibition brings diverse perspectives into dialogue, emphasizing collective making over individual authorship.”— Claudia Sohrens, Curator

Small Works is a fundraiser benefiting the production of the PWP 50th Anniversary Documentary, Women of Vision: 50 Years of Empowering Women in Photography, slated to premiere in June 2026. All prints are available for purchase at $50 per image in a limited edition of 10, with 100% of proceeds supporting the film.

The exhibition is made possible through the generous support of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, which is partnering with PWP by providing The Breezeway — a highly visible public venue — to maximize the exhibition’s community reach and fundraising impact.
