SUMMARY:January Member Meeting
DESCRIPTION:With Speaker NANCY ORI \n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Small Works: A Fundraiser Exhibition On Phoneography\n \n \n March 12\, 11:00am – 6:30pm\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Curtain Raiser: Louise Mason \nWith Speaker NANCY ORI \nBeyond the Buttons: How Women Photographers Can Use AI as a Creative and Professional Tool. \nPhotographer\, Instructor and Event Producer for New Jersey Media Center LLC in Berkeley Heights \nNancy J. Ori is respected internationally for over 35 years as a photographer and video producer for Ciba-Geigy and Novartis Pharmaceuticals in East Hanover\, NJ and is now the owner of New Jersey Media Center\, LLC in Berkeley Heights\, NJ. She also enjoys teaching photography and mixed media workshops each year internationally.  Nancy studied with Ansel Adams and was a teaching assistant for many years with the Ansel Adams Workshop in California. Since then\, she has taught at numerous art centers and museums throughout New Jersey.   In 1990\, she established The New Jersey Heritage Workshops for Photography and Painting\, which she holds each spring in Cape May\, New Jersey.  And in 1994 she established the NJ Photography Forum\, a group of professional and serious amateur photographers that meet regularly to discuss their work as well as exhibit within the state.  Under Nancy’s direction\, The Forum has grown to be the largest group of exhibiting fine art photographers in the state. A spin-off group has now evolved called the Digital Arts Group at the Visual Art Center of NJ in Summit. \nPhotographing in the West Coast tradition of her long-time mentor\, Ansel Adams\, Nancy expresses her own interpretation of the landscape and architecture.  Her photographs reveal a love of light\, shadow\, and form in natural and man-made settings.  They are powerful documentations of the land\, expressing its vulnerability and endurance. “As I look at my work\, I am aware of the major role that Nature plays in the way that I see and make photographs.  Nature has a way of peeling away decay to reveal something new.  This same process has become a way of seeing\, thinking\, and documenting for me.  I do not want my photographs to show decomposition but instead vulnerability\, not the ravages of time but endurance.” \nOri’s work has been widely published and exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe since 1995.  She has also been chosen several times to participate in New Jersey’s most celebrated exhibits and received numerous grants and awards including the 2004 Woman of Excellence Award in Arts and Humanities from the Union County Freeholders. \nSince 1995\, she has been featured in over 200 solo exhibits.  Some of the many exhibits include:  American Cyanamid Company\, Princeton; Merrill Lynch\, Princeton; Educational Testing Service\, Princeton; Palmer Museum\, Springfield; Westminster Art Gallery\, Bloomfield; Paper Mill Playhouse Gallery\, Millburn; Simon Gallery\, Morristown; Trenton City Museum\, Trenton; Newark Museum\, Newark; Monmouth Museum\, Monmouth; Bergen Museum of Art and Science\, Paramus; Chubb Corp.\, Warren; Arnot Art Museum\, Elmira\, NY; Salmagundi\, NYC; Hilltop Gallery\, Windham\, NY; Catskill Gallery\, Catskill\, NY;  Southern Light Gallery\, Amarillo\, TX;  Photo Gallery 2D\, Chicago Heights\, Ill.;  Sacramento Valley Photographic Art Center\, Sacramento\, CA.; Viewpoint Gallery\, Sacramento\, CA;  Liberty Science Center\, Jersey City. \nIn permanent art collections at: Novartis Corporation\, East Hanover; Ilford Photo Corp.\, England; Bergen Museum of Art and Science\, Paramus; Noyes Museum\, Oceanville; Newark Museum\, Newark; Merrill Lynch\, Princeton\, NJ; Armand Hammer Museum\, Los Angeles\, CA; American Cyanamid Company\, Princeton; and the Museum of Modern Art\, NYC.  Numerous international private collections. \nwww.nancyoriworkshops.com. \n \n \n Date & Time:March 12\, 11:00am – 6:30pm \n Location:The Breezeway at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center

SUMMARY:March Member Meeting
DESCRIPTION:With LENSBABY \n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	\n \n \n \n	\n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n Small Works: A Fundraiser Exhibition On Phoneography\n \n \n March 12\, 11:00am – 6:30pm\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Our March member zoom meeting features speaker Jacki Spearly. \nCurtain raiser: Pat Yankovitz \nJacki Spearly: LENS BABY- CAPTURING CREATIVE IMAGES/ PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY  \nJacki’s love for photography and nature began as a young child with her first camera\, a Konica 35mm film camera. She carried that deep interest into Penn State where she mastered developing and printing her own black and white images in the darkroom\, as well as writing a curriculum for Black and White Photography in public schools. \nJacki’s purchased her first DSLR in 2013 and shoots with a Z8 Mirrorless camera by Nikon. She continues to spend her time honing her craft\, shooting flowers\, landscapes\, wildlife and birds\, spending much of her time in nature. \nJacki first learned of the creative art lenses in 2020 by Lensbaby. Her masterful use of these lenses and accessories allows her to compose images that have become more creative and playful and in doing so\, take on a more expressive and abstract form as she experiments with the various effects she achieves with their use. She also teaches and often uses several different camera techniques including multiples in camera\, Intentional Camera Movement\, Slow Shutter Speed as well as layering textures and painting her work in Photoshop. Her current work now takes on an almost ethereal feel. \nJacki is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Art Education. \nShe is an active member of the Lehigh Valley Photography Club and was a board member for 3 years. Three years ago\, she stepped down to lead the club’s monthly Lensbaby Project Group. \nShe became a Lensbaby Ambassador in 2020 and has continued to achieve further recognition within Lensbaby\, most recently being named one of only 25 Lensbaby Trailblazers in February 2025. She continues to participate in beta-testing of new prototype lenses and Omni products and shares her knowledge and information on Lensbaby International Photo Walks\, conducting Lensbaby workshops\, private and small group instruction and as a guest speaker and judging at photography clubs and museums. \nJacki has been recognized and received numerous awards and Best of Show placements in juried exhibitions for her images. Jacki’s work can be viewed and purchased on her website and is currently on display at Art Beat Studio in Emmaus\, PA. \n \n \n Date & Time:March 12\, 11:00am – 6:30pm \n Location:The Breezeway at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center

I began developing black and white photographs in a dark room\, transfixed to see images slowly appear through chemical solutions.  I always tried for something unique\, which led to my interest in abstract photography and creating images with light. \nFirst\, I learned how to move a light source over a subject in a painting motion to illuminate it. Then\, I discovered my passion for painting with light alone—light drawing—where I move lights in patterns to create surreal images. I love that every light painting image is unique because of the infinite ways light interacts with painting tools\, colors\, movement\, surroundings\, and camera settings. \nI am located in the Northern Virginia area and enjoy presenting to groups\, conducting workshops\, or instructing one-on-one either virtually or in person.  I am an instructor with Capital Photography Center in 2026: https://capitalphotographycenter.com/.” \n  \nCheck back in 2026 for curtain raiser and location details. \n \n \n Date & Time:March 12\, 11:00am – 6:30pm \n Location:The Breezeway at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center

Please plan in advance to allow a few extra minutes to accommodate this. \nCurtain Raiser: SANDRA PIKE \n“My relationship with photography began in Osaka\, Japan\, when I was gifted my first Canon EOS. I began to learn about composition\, color and how to communicate visually. At the same time\, I started my career in publishing\, and my image making became paired with my apprenticeship in the interplay of book design\, content and visuals. \nThrough a 25-year\, publishing career in Japan\, Hong Kong and New York\, I have brought a multidisciplinary\, 360-degree perspective to my interaction with the visual world. I created fine art photography throughout\, participating in group exhibits wherever I lived\, and with individual works published in books and magazines. I’ve also had a short film shortlisted at a Canadian International Women’s Film and Video Festival. \nIn my volunteer life\, I serve as a Board Member of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation\, and a Director of the American Friends of the National Gallery of Canada Foundation. In these roles\, I promote the knowledge and understanding of Canadian art and culture in the U.S. \nA lifelong learner\, I’ve taken classes with the School of Visual Art in New York and ICP. I’m currently completing a Certificate in Photography with the Rhode Island School of Design. \nMy current work looks at the layered depths that make up our relationship with Place and in answering the question\, ‘What is it about a land that makes us love it so much?’” \nGUEST SPEAKER LORI SAUNDERS: LIGHT PAINTING AND SURREALISM \n“As an artist\, my current passion is using light as my paintbrush to create other-worldly images caught entirely in-camera through long exposure photography.
