Fee: $10.00
Presented by Andrew Berger, Esq., Counsel to the law firm of Tannenbaum Helpern et al.
Wednesday, March 30, 2005. 6 pm - 8 pm.
Location to be announced.

Here is your opportunity to get current and to clarify your questions on intellectual property with one of the most successful lawyers in this field. The moment an image is fixed on paper, it is copyrighted. As soon as a digital image can be viewed, it is copyrighted. But how do you protect your rights?

Mr. Berger, an experienced copyright litigator, will cover the copyright basics that you should know to protect your creative work. Topics to be covered include:

  • what does copyright protect
  • how do I obtain it
  • what is copyright registration
  • why is registration important
  • is a copyright notice necessary
  • what terms should I include in my invoices
  • what do I do about infringement on the internet
  • what kinds of damages might I collect if someone has infringed my work

Mr. Berger will illustrate his talk with photographs from a recently concluded case against Microsoft and McCann Erickson and some of his pending cases, including those against Walt Disney and National Geographic.

All reservations to Barbara Nelson at Bnelson2@earthlink.net. Mail $10 fee, payable to Professional Women Photographers, to Barbara Nelson, 49 West 72nd Street, NYC 10023 to hold your spot.
