Volunteer Opportunities
PUT YOUR TALENTS TO WORK!
As an all volunteer organization, PWP needs you. We cannot do it alone; we have over 250 members who have the talent to make our goals come true. Not only do our committees afford an opportunity to pitch in, but also to network; to meet many other members with whom you have so much in common; to join in and create a sense of belonging.
Whether it's grants writing, exhibitions, publicity, website, fund raising, or community service, there are so many opportunities. Contact Patricia Gilman today to sign up for a committee.
Chris Crumley, a fellow photographer put his thoughts on volunteering quite eloquently.
“Any professional, no matter what profession, should feel an obligation to contribute to their profession. Photography is a profession.
A basic means to contribute is to become part of one of the professional organizations which work toward the good of all in their profession. Just choose one or two, join and pay your dues. At a minimum, the dues fund actions that help. It's less about what the association can do for you individually, more about what we collectively can do for the profession.
Then, take the next step and participate in the running of organization at some level. This usually begins at the chapter level. I've found this pays back more than it costs. There are huge benefits in camaraderie, sharing, knowledge, education, etc.
The days of the isolationist photographer are long gone. Even our small clients employ lawyers, CPAs, consultants and others providing advice on how to better succeed with the business equation.
Photographers need to surround themselves with others, sharing knowledge and support in order to do business in modern times.”
