Collisions of past and present, reality and mystery form my kaleidoscopic-like vision of the chaos of the world. I photograph through inspired instinct and emotional impulse. The individual photographs are deeply rooted in a love of music, culture and a kinetic sixth sense. Photography transports me to another realm, a trancelike state. Later, discovering connective threads, a dialogue emerges. A visual simulacrum of the call and response of music fitting together like a score of unstructured jazz, punctuated with blue notes and dynamic rests. Color permeates my world and these images are no different, imbibed with mood, often my mood. Multilayered tableaus, palimpsests and koans appear as dreamscapes fusing form, content, time and space. From a young age, I have been most inspired when my normal routine was disrupted, a desire to escape from the routine of everyday life. Eschewing monotony in search of what’s there, yet hidden under the surface. The camera functioning as a faux camouflage, granting me permission to stare. It’s the unchanneled energy, the atmosphere, the breaking away from everyday reality that compels me to linger.
