closePhotography is about light and time, the transformation of a field of light in an expressed fraction of time into a two dimensional image. I am able to see things and more importantly, the relationships between things I would not without the benefit of lens and viewfinder. During the years my work has focused on two main themes: the first being close-up details of the urban environment to the point of abstraction with particular attention to those objects weathered by time and the elements. The second major theme is the natural world and botanicals — those that flourish in cultivated gardens, those that are grown for consumption in kitchen gardens as well as those like the ubiquitous sunflowers that survive in the midst of the city.
