This year, Alison celebrates her 53rd anniversary as a professional photographer. Starting in Colorado as a freelance photojournalist and staff photographer for the Aspen Times, she worked for a chain of local weeklies in the Oranges when she moved back home to New Jersey. As her life changed, so did the “focus” of her craft. She transitioned through PR, architectural, candid, travel, nature, and portrait photography and now specializes in multi-generation family portraits. She has taught at Seton Hall, Fairleigh Dickinson and Fairfield universities and won awards from the National Press Photographers Association and Professional Photographers of America, from whom she has also been awarded the Certified Professional Photographer and Master Photographer Craftsmen degrees. Her book, Pregnant Moments: The Experience of Pregnancy and Childbirth, was published in 1979 by esteemed photographic publisher Morgan & Morgan, formerly of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. She is currently working on several books. Alison does a lot of pro bono photography for philanthropic organizations and contributes to countless goods-and-services auctions. Her images have been exhibited internationally and are in many private collections, and The International Center of Photography. Alison is a certified Master Gardener so if you can’t find her at home, check out back in “Alison’s Wonderland.”
