Museum Insider: China!

Donna Rocco, Museum InsiderThere are many times when I walk through a museum and want to know the “behind the scenes/exhibit” story that helps me connect more deeply with the individual art work, the artist and curators.

This monthly Museum Insider blog aims to bridge this span, to help understand the connections to what we are viewing, to enrich the art, our experience with it, and our lives. – Donna Rocco

If you are in New York City, make time to visit The Metropolitan Museum to see one of its most magnificent exhibits – China Through the Looking Glass. This spectacular show explores China’s influence on Western fashion, movies, art and paintings.

The exhibit is expansive and covers three large galleries including Chinese Galleries (206–218), Egyptian Galleries (132), and the Anna Wintour Costume Center (980–981). While walking through the floors of opulent fashions (over 140 pieces) you will be amazed with the music and movies incorporated into the exhibit. China Through the Looking Glass ends on August 16th.
