At Soho Photo Gallery, NYC from 7/6-8/7, Sheila Bernard is participating in Water, and Susan Bowen is exhibiting one large scale (16′ wide) piece in Day at the Beach, a spotlight show. == A trans-layered photograph by Katherine Criss, which is a tribute to Magritte, was selected for the 2010 Long Island Biennial Art Exhibit at the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington, NY from 7/31-9/26. The show will also be on the museum’s website for two years. == Shoshana Rothaizer has work in Wish You Were Here 9, an annual benefit postcard show at A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn from 6/23-7/18. == Daryl-Ann Saunders curated and is participating in Urbanity: Interpretations of the Urban Landscape, a mixed-media exhibit by local artists and senior citizens at the Diana H. Jones Senior Citizen Center in Brooklyn from 5/17-7/10. The exhibit coincided with the annual art-filled Bushwick Open Studios (BOS), 6/5-6. On 7/10, the last day of the Urbanity show, the public is invited to an artists’ talk in English and Spanish.

The show was in conjunction with Immigrant Heritage Week, a citywide celebration that honors the experiences and contributions of immigrants in New York City with free or low-cost programs that build cross-cultural understanding among New Yorkers. == Susan Bowen was the Third Place Winner in Plastic Fantastic, a show at LightBox Gallery in Astoria, OR from 6/12-7/7. On 4/26, Irma Bohórquez-Geisler showed several photographs to accompany an academic talk on “Emigration and the Mexican State,€ at Barnard College, NYC. == On 6/7, photographs by Carol Fassler, Patricia Gilman, Catherine Kirkpatrick, Deborah Marcano, Andy Mars, Sheila Smith and Karen Smul were displayed at the “Volunteers Providing Help and Hope€ reception for Women In Need, Inc. (WIN) at Baruch College Faculty Lounge. NYC. The reception honored all volunteers who helped WIN throughout the year, including the members of PWP’s community service committee. Jane Hoffer and Joan Katz also served on the committee. == Ruth Gitto is conducting one-day photography workshops from April through October. Her Foto Safaris, using New York City as subject matter, take place once a week, and are limited to five participants per Safari. PWP members can receive a 25% discount. == Images from Sandra Gottlieb‘s 2009 summer series won 1st place in the Nature-Water category of the PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris 2010 competition. The photos will appear in an up-coming exhibition in Paris, and will also be published in the 2010 PX3 Annual Book of competition winners. == On 4/14, Andy Mars presented a Mixed Media Photography Workshop at her New York apartment. == During the month of May, Roz Rosenblum judged two photography competitions. On 5/3 she was at the Manhattan Miniature Camera Club, and on 5/24 she was at the Ocean County Camera Club in Lakewood, NJ. == Daryl-Ann Saunders was selected to participate in a new Artist-in-Residency program launched by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), in partnership with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York City Department for the Aging. At the Diana H. Jones Senior Citizen Center in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Daryl-Ann will set up a photo studio for six months. Then, she’ll work on her proposed project, The Pioneers of Bushwick, which will commemorate long-time area residents through portrait sessions and written text of their experiences. Monica Barnes edits Andean Past, an academic journal dedicated to the archaeology and ethno-history of western South America, which is published by Cornell University. This book, which contains many iconic figures spanning over fifty years of work, also includes images by Alyce Mayo and several former PWP members, including a 1937 photograph by Rebecca Lepkoff. == An image by Sonia Leon is on the cover of the current (third) issue of Imprints, the new publication of Professional Women Photographers. == A photo by Holly Gordon was on the cover the February/March issue of Creations Magazine, a Long Island bi-monthly publication. See page 100. == For the seventh year, Daryl-Ann Saunders was selected to photograph a prominent woman executive for publication on the cover and inside the “Women Worth Watching in 2010€ section of the September/October issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal magazine. A Polaroid transfer image by Daryl-Ann won the most votes in a field of eighty-five submissions in an international contest, the AlternativePhotography.com Calendar Competition 2010.
