Professional Women Photographers is very pleased to announce the winners for its Fourth Annual Student Awards program, established for young women enrolled in a New York City high school, with a talent in and enthusiasm for photography. This year there were two categories for submissions, 9^th and 10^th grades, and 11^th and 12^th grades.

The two $1000 first prizes went to Julia Hamann of Leon M. Goldstein HS in Brooklyn for 11^th and 12^th grade division and Jorgelina Skorput of Louis D. Brandeis HS in Manhattan for 9^th and 10^th grade division. These prizes were made possible by a generous donation from Hunton & Williams, LLP.

The two second place winners received $500 each and were awarded to Anna Desiderio of Leon M. Goldstein HS in Brooklyn and Kimberly Socci of Michael Petrides HS in Staten Island. These prizes were made possible in part by a donation from Fujifilm USA.

The third prizes were awarded to Hillary Kelly of Abraham Lincoln HS in Brooklyn and Alyssa Wong of Leon M. Goldstein HS in Brooklyn, tied with Megan Gisonda of Michael Petrides HS in Staten Island. These awards were made possible by a generous donation from Catherine and David Steinmann.

Honorable mention awards were given to Maria Santos of Abraham Lincoln HS in Brooklyn and Victoria Della Salla of Michael Petrides HS in Staten Island.

All award recipients also received a tripod kit courtesy of Bogen Imaging.

The winners were given their awards at a reception on March 31 at 202East. Approximately 85 people attended, including parents, families, friends and teachers of the students.

The submissions were juried by a panel composed of David H. Wells, the Narrative Photographer and Lighting Expert, David Lowe, Assistant to the Photography Curator at the New York Public Library, and Jerry Fetzer, a member of Sotheby’s Photography Department.
